4G LTE Supported Bands In Nigeria Networks Glo, MTN, Etisalat, nTel
With the inception of 4G LTE connectivity being the norm lately, it’s only ideal to use devices that supports the network 4G LTE bands.
Unfortunately, while most smartphones comes equipped with 4G LTE bands, some of these GSM network operator supports different bands. Bands that your rather sophisticated smartphone may not support.
Hence, we are breaking down the 4G LTE carrier bands for each of the telecommunication company operating in Nigeria. Specifically Glo, MTN, Etisalat and nTel.
GLO, MTN, Etisalat, nTel 4G LTE Bands
| Carrier | 4G LTE Bands | Frequencies |
|---|---|---|
| MTN | 7, 20 | 2600MHz, 800MHz |
| GLO | 28 | 700MHz |
| Etisalat | 3 | 1800MHz |
| nTel | 3, 8 | 1800MHz, 900MHz |
Glo 4G LTE Band
As earlier stated, this isn’t the first time GLO announced a 4G LTE network connectivity. The first time was actually in 2011 but that never came to limelight. At least, not until recently.Globacom currently offers the cheapest data plans compared to other GSM operators. Not only on it’s regular 2G/3G network mode, but also on it’s 4G network mode.
However, GLO only supports a 4G band that’s not so common on smartphones currently in the market. Most of the recently launched sophisticated Android smartphones do not support the band 28 (700MHz). Which in my opinion, is a bit of a turn off.
How to use GLO 4G LTE connectivity
To use the GLO 4G LTE network connectivity, you will need to swap your SIM card for a 4G positioned SIM. What this means is, your rather existing glo SIM cannot connect to the network’s 4G mode except you use a 4G ready SIM.
And in other to get the SIM, you need to visit any GLO outlet. Thereafter, you can subscribe to any of the network 4G data plans by dialing *777# and following the onscreen instructions.
MTN 4G LTE Bands
Compared to other GSM operators in the country, MTN was the first to officially rolled out 4G LTE connectivity. Of course, this was months after the service was launched in Cameroon amongst other countries.Thankfully, MTN 4G supports band 20 (800MHz) and Band 7 (2600MHz). Most sophisticated Android phones supports any of those bands. Remember, I used the word ‘most‘. Even the iPhone 6 from 2014 can utilize MTN’s 4G network.
The telecommunication company also made it easy for existing 4G smartphone users to confirm if their smartphone can actually work with the network’s 4G mode.
How To use MTN 4G LTE connectivity network
Just before anything else, you should confirm if your current 4G supported phone supports MTN 4G network. In other to do this, simply send 4G to 131 and a confirmation will be sent to you.
If your phone is supported, you would need to visit an MTN outlet and thereafter, swap your current existing SIM for a 4G LTE supported SIM.
Etisalat 4G LTE bands
Etisalat is the latest GSM operator to join the 4G LTE revolution in Nigeria. Of course, the telecom’s 4G network has been existing in a few other country.Etisalat 4G LTE supports band 3 (1800MHz) and most smartphones, including the Tecno Camon C9, support band 3. Therefore, if you own the tecno camon c9, you should be able to use Etisalat 4G LTE service on your smartphone. Of course, that is if you are within the supported region.
How to use Etisalat 4G LTE network
Compared to other GSM operators in Nigeria, using Etisalat 4G LTE is quite easy. You don’t necessarily need to swap your current SIM for a 4G position one.
Simply get a phone that supports 4G band 3, be in a supported location, subscribe to a 4G data plan, and you are good to go.
So, there you have it. Above are the 4G bands MTN, GLO, etisalat and nTel currently support. Hence, if you are looking forward to buying a 4G phone, you should look out for the supported 4G bands.
If you currently own a phone that supports 4G connectivity and you are not sure which bands it support, this tutorial should guild you through.

New Increased Etisalat Data Plans and Prices

Can you imagine, Etisalat that don't use to offer cheap data plans has increased their data prices. I don't really know why they are doing this. Just few days ago they unveiled their 4G LTE service, they are here with unfair data prices.
Glo offers more cheap data plans better than Etisalat. Imagine, Etisalat current 3.5GB data goes for N2,500, valid for 30days, while Glo 3.2GB data goes for N1,000, valid for 30days, which is more cheaper? But the current problem with Glo is their poor 3G coverage.

3.5GB for N2500
2GB + 1.5GB night plan N2000
Now, compare the new data plans and prices with their former data plans and prices.
FORMER ETISALAT DATA PLANS AND PRICES

=> 3.5GB for N2,000
=> 5GB for N6,500
=> 8GB for N8000
=> 10GB for N10,000
As we all know, Etisalat has a fast 3G service but that shouldn't be the reason for their increments of data prices. I'm just like HMM. What's your say on this? Kindly use the comment box below.

Best Cheapest Data Plan For All iOS, Android, Blackberry 10 & PC Users For August '16
Happy New Month wonderful people!
I’m sure you are all doing what you know how to do best. Like the saying always goes, what fuel is to a car is what data is to a mobile phone.
Without data smartphones are useless. And always remember this formula, SLOW
NETWORK +DATA + SMARTPHONE= ANNOYANCE.
Therefore, on this platform I’ll be presenting you with the best and cheapest data plan for the month of August. Stay glued and I’m sure you’ll definitely find the one that suite your class.
MTN: These guys have been hiding behind the mask of recent and this is absolutely unfair. They recently resurrected wow weekend, an offer which they started and stopped 2013. This offer gives you ridiculous bonus that you’ll think will take you eternity to exhaust, but I bet you within an hour, the bonus will be truncated.
MTN Wow weekend bonus is not actually what you think it is, it zaps, it sucks until it dries up. 17.5GB acclaimed bonus by MTN when you activate 3.5GB for N2000 is not up to 2GB. I don’t know why MTN have to stretch the truth in order to lure her customers into this unavoidable temptations.
However, The best data plan I can recommend that doesn’t zap are the ones that you get from third party re sellers. See their prices below;
1GB for N600
2GB for N1200
3GB for N1800
4GB for N2200
5GB for N2800
Glo: Glo still remain the lord of the ring when it comes to huge data plans that is why they are called the grand master of data. Despite the facts that it is so cheap, not everyone will like to subscribe to paid data plans.
Hence, you can rock Glo N0.0 if you have tweakware vpn V3.3 installed on your Android devices.
Apply the settings below:
APN SETTINGS
APN NAME: gloflat
APN: gloflat
Proxy: 127.0.0.1
Port: 8080
Username and password: gloflat
(Or use the default Glo APN settings)
How to Use Glo 0.00 Tweak Via Tweakware VPN
>>Install the latest tweakware that you downloaded earlier
>>Launch the app and use the following settings
>>Go to Settings
>>Bundle Settings
>>Select Bundle Settings, then tap on NG GLO 0.0.

Finally, hit the connect button
If yours doesn't connect, Activate glo PAYU, sms PAYU to 127 and you will get a reply that you are now using data as Pay As U Go to browse.
What if I don’t want all this stress of tweaking?
You can simply subscribe to glo normal data plans or from a reliable glo data resellers that gives you the below ridiculous cheap data plans

10GB for N2100
12GB for N2550
18GB for N2900
24GB for N4450

How Can I use Glo Data Bundle on Blackberry 10?
It’s pretty simple, just follow the below steps
>>Go to settings>>Network>>Mobile network>>APN>> edit your apn and set it to gloflat
>>Set the Password and username to gloflat.
>>Save it and exit.
Airtel: Weeks ago, Airtel launches 2GB for N200 and 5GB forN500 . This plan only works on Edge but you apply the trick here, you can use it on 3G speed. The issue now is if you’ve subscribed to this plan before, you won’t be able to use Airtel Blackberry Plan on your Android again except you completely
opt out .
2GB for N200 is a virus that continually corrupt your sim from using Airtel 3GB for N1,000 data plan.
The only Airtel data plans that doesn’t zap are the weekend plans and third party data re sellers plan.
Etisalat: For now, the cheapest etisalat data plans are the one listed here.
iPhone/ iPad Users
It's advisable you go for the network that is strongest in your location. I guess you can see MTN, Etisalat and Glo cheapest data packages as posted above, any of them will work with your devices. Just make sure you scan your network strength before you choose a package.
Best Data Package for Heavy Downloaders
For heavy downloaders , the best is to have it unlimited. And no network in Nigeria for now gives you unlimited. Unlimited plans have all been scrapped including Airtel unlimited night plan. But you can get 15GB with just N500 for Airtel night plan.
Airtel’s Night Plan: Airtel recently introduced these night plan 1.5GB for N50 and 500MB for N25. The plan replaced the unlimited Night plan.
How Can I Get The Airtel Night Data plan
You must migrate to Airtel SmartTrybe by dialing *312# then reply with 1
1. Kindly Dial *312#
2. Reply with 2 for N500 For 1GB (7 days)
3. Reply with 3 for 500MB for N25 and 1.5GB for N50 (Night Plan 12am - 5am)
4. Reply with 4 for N200 for 200mb + 30Min call (Weekend: Sat and Sun)
Here is the trick on how to get 15GB for N500.
Subscribe for 1.5GB for N50, once you exhaust it, subscribe again until you are satisfied with your download.
This is just simple application of knowledge. Go ahead and rock the best data that is strongest in your location.
